We are so fortunate to have friends in our lives that share a love for grandpa that runs as deep as our own. Tonight we had some of these friends visit with dinner in hand, abundant smiles, and stories to tell. Before they came, grandpa requested to be rolled into his room to eat so that we could visit with them in privacy..... What it really was is that he has a low level of self esteem and doesn't want to appear disheveled or unable to communicate with others. I convinced him to stay present and he agreed as he requested a cup of water and his comb to clean up his look before they came. He did not join us at the dining room table, but he did join in after dinner conversations. His highlight tonight was shared through the heart of a little girl who is so special to our family. She asked him what he would like more than anything to which he replied a million dollars. Unsure of how to draw that, she asked him what he would like second best. He said a half a million dollars. Seeing her frustration with him, he finally replied a leg. She drew him the picture below...
